POEA News Advisory: Very Low Prospects for Filipino Nurses in Europe

VP Binay Appeals to Japan to Further Enhance Training of Filipina Nurses

Vice President Jejomar Binay has asked Japanese Ambassador Makato Katsura, who paid a courtesy visit on the Office of the Vice President to spruce up the training of Pinoy nurses under the Japan-Philippines Economic Partnership Ageement (JPEPA).

It is noted that in the February 2010 Japanese National Nursing Examination (Kangoshi) administered by JPEPA, only one Filipino nurse had passed the exam. Read more…

Japan to Make National Exam Less Difficult

In the February 2010 Japanese National Nursing Examination administered under the Japan-Philippine Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA) scheme, only one Filipino out of 257 applicants passed the test.

Under the said agreement, foreign nurses are required to undergo language training to be able to learn Nihongo.

It is the difficulty in Nihongo language and not the proficiency in nursing skills and competence that caused the poor turnout of successful Filipino nurse test takers. Read more…

POEA News Release to Clarify Report on Job Orders

The Philippine Overseas Employment Agency (POEA) has just recently posted a news release to clarify reports made by some newspapers regarding job orders abroad.

From the POEA website:
The demand for construction workers reported in some newspapers earlier were not for the US Mainland market but for Guam’s planned development starting 2010 of a modern and integrated military facility. Recruitment for Guam, however, is likely to take a longer time due to recent developments affecting the US and Japan on the issue of a replacement facility for the Futenma Marine base in Okinawa, Japan. The POEA also belied erroneous reports citing employment prospects in the oil and gas industries for the US.
