273 Pinoy nurses, caregivers leave for Japan

MANILA, Philippines – A total of 273 Filipina nurses and caregivers left yesterday for Japan as part of an agreement between the Japanese government and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).

The group left in two batches aboard Japan Airlines JAL 742 at 8 a.m. and JAL 746 at 4 p.m.

Japanese Economic Minister Tomochika Uyama sent off the nurses and caregivers at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA). continue reading here.

Nearly 400 RP nurses, caregivers leaving for Japan

MANILA, Philippines – Close to 400 Filipino nurses and caregivers are leaving for Japan this weekend, the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) reported yesterday.

POEA administrator Jennifer Manalili said the workers would be the first batch of Filipino nurses and caregivers to be deployed under the Japan-Philippine Economic Partnership Agreement (JPEPA). continue reading here.

Japan recession won’t affect hiring of nurses

MANILA, Philippines – Despite experiencing its “worst economic crisis,” Japan is still hiring Filipino nurses and caregivers.

The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) allayed fears yesterday about the cancellation of the planned hiring by Japan of Filipino nurses and caregivers.

“We don’t see such a scenario happening because it’s the Japanese employers who keep on telling us to follow the timeline of the deployment process,” POEA chief Jennifer Manalili said. continue reading here.
