An introductory and step by step approach to Minimally Invasive and Robotic Colorectal Surgery which is aimed at providing nurse participants the necessary fundamentals in understanding and appreciating the advanced surgical procedures.

Objectives:
At the end of the program, participants should be able to:

• Discuss the anatomy and physiology of the digestive system (colon/rectum);
• Discuss the basic principles of Minimally Invasive and Robotic Colorectal Surgery;
• Discuss their indications and contraindications;
• Discuss their possible risks and complications;
• Identify the instruments and enumerate their appropriate use; and
• Enumerate the roles and responsibilities of nurses in Minimally Invasive and Robotic Colorectal Surgery.
