this is a specialty? so what are the special functions of a military nurse?
When i hear the word specialty in nursing what i understand is a modified or specific function of a nurse which typically includes additional education and training like Nurse Practitioners who prescribe and diagnose diseases and Nurse Anesthetists who assess and give anesthesia. so far in the Philippines nurses are considered “sidekicks” of physicians, at least that is the trend. following doctor’s orders should be restated as collaborating with physician recommendations.
Military Nurses plays a dual function as a nurse and at the same time as an officer in the AFP. They are distinct in function because they work in a place where most of their patients are soldiers. In the fields they are flexible in assuming roles as a nurse and at the same time they play a vital role in the maintennance of soldiers health specially where the doctors are not available.
how to become a military nurse?do they also have combat training like soldiers?are they also assigned in different places,in mindanao for example. or do they have a choice where/what military hospital to work.
as far as i know, military nurses can be assigned to different places when they are called to active duty (CAD). My Commanding Officer (CO) advised me to fill up an application form at the Technical Service Battallion office at AFPRESCOM Compound at Camp Aguinaldo (GHQ). But i think you will be commissioned as a Reserve Officer with an initial rank of 2nd Lieutenant provided that you complete all the requirements needed and fill up you Personal History Statement (PHS) form and Commission in the Reserve Force application form.Your board rating must also be 80 percent and above to qualify for CAD. Once commissioned, you can undergo Active Duty Training (ADT) almost like CAD but for a definite time and duration only. You will also be given the opportunity to expand your knowledge by engaging to trainings or Military Schoolings.
Sir is there any specific period/month of the year or quota in the application of MN? Should i directly apply in camp aguinaldo? thank you!
