MORE INFORMATION:
The American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers course is designed to provide a wide variety of certified or noncertified, licensed or nonlicensed, healthcare professionals with the skills to keep people alive until they can be brought to a hospital with more advanced lifesaving measures. This is specially designed for laypeople whose work brings them into contact with members of the public, such as parks, hotels, schools employees, etc. AHA BLS is a pre-requisite for AHA ACLS

The American Heart Association’s ECG Course reflects the 2010 AHA Guidelines for CPR and ECC. This is a half-day, classroom-based; Facilitator-led course is designed to improve electrocardiogram (ECG) recognition skills and knowledge for treating cardiovascular emergencies. This course is intended for healthcare personnel actively involved in cardiovascular emergencies and CPR. ECG course should be taken before taking an ACLS course.

The American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) refers to a set of clinical interventions for the urgent treatment of cardiac arrest, stroke and other life threatening medical emergencies, as well as the knowledge and skills to deploy those interventions.

The ACLS guidelines were updated by the American Heart Association and the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation in 2010. New ACLS guidelines focus on BLS as the core component of ACLS. Foci also include end tidal CO2 monitoring as a measure of CPR effectiveness, and as a measure of ROSC. Other changes include the exclusion of Atropine administration for pulseless electrical activity (PEA) and asystole. and a new change in arrangement of CPR steps to be CAB rather than ABC.
